Greetings from IOACON 2012 Conference Secretariat,

It is with great pleasure and pride we wish to inform the successful completion of the 57th Annual Conference of the Indian OrthopaedicAssociation held from 13th to 16th December, 2012 at Chennai.

We thank you for your participation and contribution for IOACON 2012. It was great hosting you in this great city with an academic feast. Our motto was Celebrating Change and we have done just that. IOACONs shall no more be looked down upon as social melas. The Conference was reformatted to revive the seriousness and harness the Knowledge- gaining & Knowledge sharing potential of such a huge conglomeration of master medical minds and your feedback has reassured us that we have been able to achieve it.

Highlights of the conference were:

1. Orthopaedic experts from across the globe well known from their expertise and knowledge shared their wealth of experience with us.
2. 6 conference lectures and 6 eponymous lectures.
3. 231 Presentations. 202 free papers and 220 e posters- largest number ever.
4. Multimedia learning experience of AAOS a first.
5. Indo British Autumn session a first
6. Presidents oration on Overcoming Obstacles the Aravind story from the Executive director of Aravind eye care systems.
7. A rare exclusive session on Inner Engineering by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev- Isha Foundation which was extremely well received.
8. More importantly, staggered trade timings and hassle free lecture halls thanks to Bar coded attendance.

The mission with which we set out was attained and the orthopaedic fraternities of this country were open to the changes we gave them. The conference was a thumping success and we are sure that this would be the milestone against which future conferences will be measured.

All this was possible thanks to you and only you.
